About Me

My love and study of music has been lifelong, starting with piano lessons with my mother at age 6. Then followed studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto, U of T, Western and the Guildhall School of Music in London, England. The exemplary and encouraging teachers I had along the way, Earl Moss, Pierre Souvairan, Peter Smith and Nelly Ben-Or, inspired and helped form my philosophy of teaching: engage the imagination to teach musicality and technique.
I am now a highly qualified and experienced teacher and performer. I have gained insight into ways to get the best from my students and how to inspire them; always with a dash of humour. This has translated into success for students at exams and festivals.

Experience
I have 40 years experience teaching piano and 18 years teaching voice. I am an instrumental and vocal accompanist and coach, pianist in the Ardeleana Trio, conductor of Whispering River Choir in Parry Sound and Music Director of St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church, Mississauga. I am the Soprano lead in Jubilate Singers, Toronto.
I love making music happen and thoroughly enjoy sharing this with my students

About Lessons
Private Lessons: Piano and Voice
These are offered to students of all ages at a scheduled weekly time. The emphasis is on personal accomplishment and musical enjoyment, based on sound teaching methods, according to the student's needs. Preparation for RCM exams and Festivals is encouraged. Opportunities to share in student recitals are provided.
My goal is to help each student find their own musical expression with creativity, patience and no judgement.
The teaching term runs from Sept. to the end of June. Summer lessons can also be scheduled.

Love to sing? Want to be a better choir member, maybe sing a solo? I can help!
Two streams of classes are available. One is for less experienced singers wanting to sing purely for fun. Basic vocal skills will be introduced to enable ease in singing. The other, designed for choral singers, will provide an opportunity to improve vocal production, music-reading skills and sight-reading. Both are non-stressful ways to explore your capabilities and are open to ages 16 and up.

Lessons run from September to the end of June. Fees are payable a month in advance or at the lesson. Summer lessons are also available.

Class Lessons: Vocal only, minimum of 3 participants
1 hour duration: $20 per student

Studio Policies
​
Your lesson time is specifically booked for you. Fees are not refunded when sports or other extra-curricular activities conflict with your lesson time. In the case of illness the lesson will be credited. If I cancel, a make-up lesson will be arranged at a mutually convenient time or the fee will be refunded.
Providing music books and material is the student's responsibility. I will advise on what needs to be purchased.
Registration and fees for exams and festivals are the student's responsibility. I am available for guidance in these matters.
